Archbishop Oscar Romero said, "When I give bread to the poor, they call me a Saint... when I ask why the poor have no bread, they call me a Communist."
Jesus calls us into a life of costly service. Archbishop Romero's quote tells us why it is costly. We are not just called to acts of charity, we are called to be proclaimers and enactors of God's vision for a world where justice flows like a mighty stream.
We have opportunities for service locally throughout the semester. We are often involved with organizations helping people experiencing homelessness. We are also pursuing a partnership with a community garden so stay tuned for that!
In all that we do we seek to learn about the systems that create poverty and injustice and how we might be involved in justice movements to be part of the change we hope to see.
