Campus Minister: Kathryn Thompson

Kathryn (she/they) comes to LuMin with a breadth of life and ministry experience.  Most recently in campus ministry at Luther College, in a Clinical Pastoral Education residency, in congregational internships, with ELCA churchwide youth ministry and education development, as well as ten years of experience as a high school English teacher.  In addition, Kathryn is currently serving as co-editor of a newly developed “Queer Confirmation” curriculum for the ELCA.


Kathryn graduated with an M.Div. from Wartburg Seminary and a Bachelor's of Arts (English) from St. Olaf College. She is a candidate for Word and Sacrament ordination. Her ministry with LuMin began Aug. 1st, 2024.


Kathryn loves writing and reading poetry, and being in nature, including walking and hiking and being on or near water.  They found that their queer identity brought forth their unique passion for inviting others to live authentically.  Kathryn finds purpose in relationship and accompaniment.  They also embody and encourage the process of transformation and growth by inspiring other to live out their inherent worth.


Kathryn and her spouse, Sara, have one kiddo with another on the way.  Their family loves to explore the outdoors, have dance parties, and eat great food.
